Responsibilities

A Credit Underwriter is responsible for spreading financial statements in compliance with Bank standards. It is the responsibility of a credit underwriter to prepare Credit Offering Memorandums on non-to-mid-complex borrowers in concert with Commercial Lenders for consideration of commercial loan approval. Other responsibilities include compiling of borrower's total banking relationship, managing personal workload to ensure completion of work within prescribed timeline, and performing other administrative duties to support the Credit Administration function.


*Prepare financial spreadsheets on existing or potential borrowers using accountant-prepared for company-prepared financial statements and tax returns
* Gather all additional credit information, environmental reports, etc. as required by the structure of the credit request
* Prepare Credit Offering Memorandums on non-to mid-complex borrower's, which includes a description of the credit request and all associated structural components, detail of the borrower's banking relationship (loans, deposits, cash management, RDC, etc.), corporate and personal financial statement and cash flow analysis, detailed collateral evaluation, and identification of loan policy exceptions and regulatory structural weaknesses
* May suggest a risk rating for the relationship to the Commercial Lender after conducting a thorough credit analysis and documentation review
* Coordinate the completion of credit assignments with Commercial Lenders and Credit Supervisors/ Managers to ensure customer needs are being addressed in a timely manner
* Maintain appropriate records and provide assigned reports
* Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all job-specific training requirements in a timely fashion.


Qualifications

* B.S. or B.A. degree in a business related field of study (finance, management, economics, accounting) with at least 6 credits in accounting.
* Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.

* Proficient interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).

* Understanding of financial statement composition.

* Sound knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
