The Controls Engineer has responsibility for implementing design and verification of new control system applications for equipment upgrades associated with the production of products at Granville, NY. Will support the design and implementation of manufacturing processes and equipment for web processing using wet coating and lamination, web handling equipment and practices, extrusions and mixing technology.

Through guidance and leadership, Controls Engineer supports the product development and manufacturing efforts of the plant and investigates any equipment issues relating to equipment downtime/breakdowns, or equipment performance. Will assist in ensuring that the production equipment is operating as intended and assist in troubleshooting during manufacturing interruptions.

The Controls Engineer will work to mentor junior level Controls Engineers within the group to further their knowledge within the field and industry.

Provides support to programs in Granville, NY within the defined continuous improvement framework, in a manner consistent with Saint-Gobain EHS Policies and Principles of Conduct and Action.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages the equipment control systems. Assists with daily troubleshooting and production support.
  • Leads and assists on equipment improvement projects including the management of capital projects and budgets.
  • Trains Maintenance and Engineering Groups in the Control Logic PLC and other control systems used for the production equipment.
  • Provides training to the Operations team in the general controls "theory" for their respective equipment.
  • Oversees the development of the Controls Engineers with the current industry standards.

REQUIRED:

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Controls or equivalent) with 3+ years' manufacturing experience in a regulated industry
  • or MS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Controls or equivalent) with 1+ years' manufacturing experience in a regulated industry
  • Project Management
  • Communications and Team Building Skills
  • Implementation and Maintaining Allen-Bradley Controls Platforms
  • Use of various software packages (AutoCAD, Soildworks, SQL Server, Panelview, RS View, RS Logic 500, Studio 5000, ABB Drives and Factorytalk systems)

PREFERRED:

  • 1+ years experience managing, and developing direct reports
  • Experience in ISO Environment
  • Knowledge of TQM/Lean/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement Methodology

  • Glens Falls/Queensbury, NY- 40 minutes
  • Saratoga Springs, NY- 50 minutes
  • Manchester, VT- 30 minutes

To make sure nothing is forgotten

Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $91,350 to $110,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $100,485 to $121,000. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
