Position Purpose
Dickey Center Fellows work closely with senior leaders in the Dickey Center on specific projects, conduct research and analysis on key global and international issues, and serve as a primary resource for selected finance and administrative functions. The position assists the Dickey Center in engaging across the Dartmouth community, strengthening an international perspective, hosting events, and working on programs that address current issues with engagement and problem-solving across global health, international peace and security, and international development. This is a one-year TERM position.

  • Recent Dartmouth graduate.
  • Deep experience in the Dartmouth community.

  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
  • Occasional weekend and evening hours will be required to attend special events and programs (some travel may be required as well).

Key Accountabilities

Description
Initiative for Global Security
  • Provides support to highlight Dartmouth's academic work in international security, connect to policy makers, and develop greater links to the peace and security community.
  • Works with leadership to design and manages events, including international relations seminars, meetings with post-docs, student programs and distinguished visitors; provides support to visiting scholars, practitioners and travel by students and faculty; participate in events.
  • Supports design and execution of conferences, workshops, and visitors.
  • Supports planning for War & Peace Fellows student trips (to Washington, DC in March and internationally in December).
  • Supports development and execution of the annual IGS DC Conference.
  • Works on organizing and supporting IGS meetings and workshops. Drafts letters, emails, and minutes to variety of audiences. Acts as rapporteur and note-taker.
  • Provides financial and administration assistance.
  • Assists with creating communications schedule, drafts email letters and notices to faculty and staff.
  • Tracks participation metrics, provide analysis on progress of initiative goals and activities; analyzes new topics for potential development in international

Description
Dickey Center - Director's Special Projects in international peace and security
  • Works with Director to support development of speaker series that highlights Great Issues and campus-based efforts to address key multidisciplinary challenges, including in international peace and security.
  • Collaborates with senior leaders on year-long research and analysis process in support of great issues linked with programming. Support Dickey leadership and Dickey-affiliated faculty member to conduct research on key academic and policy-related issues. Support outreach to academic and policy community.
  • Supports analysis of current issues and ways for Dickey Center to address, including writing and drafting materials.
  • Provides significant input on conceptualizing, planning, and executing student outreach.
  • Represents the Dickey Center in a variety of fora and meetings and provides meeting notes or minutes as needed.
  • Works as a member of a team that coordinates institutional events including Board meetings, and one-time events, staffs events throughout the year.
