The Agency of Digital Services (ADS) is the central IT organization for the State of Vermont, responsible for providing innovative and reliable technology solutions to support the delivery of government services. We are committed to leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for Vermonters. The ADS for ARE team supports multiple Agencies and Departments including Administration, Commerce and Community Development, Financial Regulations and Liquor and Lottery. We are looking for the right individual to join the team in the Deputy IT Director role.
As the Deputy IT Director you will play a key leadership role in advancing our mission to modernize and optimize IT services across state government. Reporting directly to the IT Director, you will be responsible for the management of a team of 18 IT professionals and will have the opportunity to collaborate with many others across of diverse team of IT experts in ADS. As part of the continual evolution of our team you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of consistent and high-quality services to our customers.

The Agency of Digital Services supports a hybrid work environment. While regular (weekly) on site work should be expected, a mixed telework/onsite schedule is encouraged. This position is based in Montpelier, Vermont.

Most work is performed in a standard office setting and there is considerable interaction with high level managers and staff, as well as occasional work with other State agencies, interest groups, regional and/or national groups. Work outside of regular 7:45am - 4:30pm schedule can be anticipated.
Ten (10) years or more experience in computer sciences, business administration, public administration, mathematics, technical operations management or providing support to staff within an IT environment.
OR
Four (4) years or more in an IT Manager role with a combination of experience in computer operations, information technology management/administration or supervisory responsibilities.
